What type of morning person are you?

Mornings can be such a rush and with the ever-mounting pressures of our modern way of life, we all have it tough when it comes to giving ourselves the best head-start to the day.

This year, Kellogg’s® National Breakfast Week (6th-10th September) is showing us just how easy it can be to beat the morning rush hour, save time and give ourselves and our family a breakfast boost and the best possible start to the day. After all, nutritionists say breakfast is the most important part of a healthy balanced diet!

If you are someone who always rushes out the door forgetting to pick up the car keys and your son’s PE kit, don’t worry. Kellogg’s® has teamed up with celebrity life coach, Gladeana McMahon, to assess what type of morning person you are, and provide you with solutions to cope with the morning madness. It’s never too late to learn how to beat the morning rush hour…

1. You wake up at 9.00am realising your alarm clock has not gone off. Do you:
Dismiss the thought of it. Your alarm clock always goes off, because you check it at least ten times the night before
Waste more time panicking, then skip breakfast, jump into some clothes and worry about what excuse to give your boss en route
Stay calm, call the office to apologise and advise them you will be arriving late, and take your breakfast with you to eat in the office

2. Your hairdryer fails to work after your morning shower. It’s a chilly morning and leaving the house with wet hair will make you susceptible to flu – not to mention making your hair frizzy. Do you:
Put your hair up in a hat and pack a hairbrush, with plans to dry it off in the office toilets under the hand dryers
You always have at least one spare hairdryer to hand for emergencies
Run out of the house with your towel wrapped around your head to speed up the drying process

3. You realise the clothes you wanted to wear for an important appointment are still in the dirty laundry basket. Do you:
Get them out of the basket and give them a splash of perfume to camouflage the smell
Decide on alternative attire for the appointment, using the same accessories as planned
You’re always prepared, and regularly plan and lay out several possible outfits the night before important appointments

4. The kids are playing up at the breakfast table, refusing to eat what is prepared. Do you:
Give them three other options – you prepared them all earlier, naturally
Run around frantically trying to find alternatives, but finding nothing, send them off to school with the first thing you prepared, hoping they change their minds later
Bargain with them – if they eat what you’ve prepared now, you’ll give them a treat after school

5. Your dog needs to be fed, but you’ve run out of dog food. Do you:
Feed him leftovers from the fridge and make a note to remember to buy dog food on the way home
Stay calm: you always have spare cans in the cupboard
Feel guilty, but leave the house without feeding him and vow to come back at lunchtime with some food
